I'd take down the alternative tonewood article if I was you. Or seek some advice from someone. The Editorial needs some serious editing as well before you have some luthiers dumping all over you. If you posted those comments here I wouldn't be able to resist, and I'm sure your intentions are fine. Not criticizing your efforts, just making some observations that you may find helpful.:)

Yeah, Bruce Bennett tore him a new one. Then again, have you seen Bruce's current range of guitars? Not for everyone, perhaps.

I saw it but didn't click through. I can imagine that he was less than supportive of some of the content.

wbcsound, as I was a little critical can I just say I'd be happy to provide a few paragraphs on tonewood in general and qualify it accordingly.:)
 
I think I should make my own website. In fact, I'll get right on it!

Oh, there's some pretty dubious content on mimf, though they usually have people calling them on the BS pretty quick. I just think Deb's a bit of a nag, so I avoid them. Some of her rules are just stupid.

Generally they call the bullshit pretty quick. I know what you mean about Deb and recently she's relaxed the rules considerably but those rules did work to keep the place civil at all times. I don't post a lot there anymore but you have more experienced makers hanging out there than almost any other site I know. One thing for sure is the archive there is worth registering for on it's own.

As I offered to Bruce, I would be happy to post anyone's expert opinion on the subject.

I'm surprised to see such controversal reaction to the editorial as well as no one pointing out specifically where I over reached. Is it due to the line: "But these are very general guidelines and do not make any one species of wood absolutely superior to any other wood in a given application; especially when referring to an electric guitar played though a medium to high gain amp."?

I'm a member over there, and I take the point about Deb - it can be a terrifying experience posting a query, purely because if you put it in the wrong place you'll get a very curt message telling you not to fuck up again. However, she generally does a good job.
