Gang Vox??

does anyone have comments on a good way to record group or gang vocals.. so it sounds like everyone is shouting the same thing at the same time
 
Sorry if this sounds a bit smart arsed, but to get the sound of everyone shouting the same thing at the same time - get everyone shouting the same thing at the same time.

Depends I guess if you're doing something melodic or more of a bar-room yelling session, if pitch is important to the song maybe do a bunch of takes of smaller groups (that way you can weed out the really out of tune ones hehe) and stack them up. Vary the distance between the singers and the mic on different takes too, to kinda replicate a physically large group of people. You don't want it perfect!

Also, while extremely tempting, getting a bunch of drunken friends in to record gang vocals doesn't really work very well. I speak from experience. It's awesome fun, but listening back to it the next day isn't.
