Soundproofing Ductwork

I'm looking for ideas for soundproofing modern day HVAC ductwork. I'm working on a basement room in a brand new house. The plan is use 6" roxul between joists then a suspended 2" rigid fiberglass dropped ceiling.
In the past I used 2 layers of foil bubble wrap on the furnace returns and taped everything nice and tight. This worked well but gets real expensive and terminates any cell phone signal in that room.
I was pondering a rough bulkhead built with scrap drywall within inches of the duckwork instead of the wrap.

In my basement studio, I wrapped a layer of AudioSeal sheet around the ducts, then framed around the duct and added another of the AudioSeal under the sheetrock. Any dense insulation (such as Rockwool) you can put between the joists will only help. Mass is your friend.
