Mini disk to Mini Disk copying problems

I tried this after noon to copy a sound track from one Mini disk player to another. I am running the original MD trak through the mixer at my church and recording to another MD connected to the tape out jack on the board. I am adding a vocal via microphone to the recording MD. The MD trak is hooked to the console via a channel imput. The vocal mic is hooked to another channel imput. For some reason when I record the recorded MD comes out fuzzy and distorted. I tried new cables and several other things.

Help Got any ideas let me know

Perhaps your console is too hot at the main output for the inputs of your minidisc. try a tape output or a line out on the console this may help.
