Ok folks,
I use a Fostex VF80 and have an Alesis SR16 for drums.

I run guitars, bass, vocals into the fostex with the drums etc...

HOW can Midi help me if at all??? What is and/or can be the benifit?

My Alesis and Fostex have Midi plugs. Timing is always a huge issue for me and can ONLY be kept good with the drum machine constantly going. I just fade it off at the begining etc...

I'm thinking MIDI is my answer here, but I'm not sure I understand it well enough.

Please help.

thanks
matt

I'm no midi guru, but I think midi is only going to help sync'ing 2 machines together.

What I've been doing on my VF08 is recording a basic drum track (at the right tempo) first and using that as a reference beat - a click track.

I can either use the first drum recording as a final track, or just as a scratch track, and record another with drum fills & everything.

Hope that helps. This advice is guaranteed to be worth at least what you paid for it!
