Hi,
Which is better to record at on a Sblive Platinum,44.1Khz or 48Khz?I read an article long ago about the benefits of using 48Khz and to my ears it sound better but is it nessesary?I will be recording into a wave editor and using Vienna Soundfont Studio to create soundfonts.

If I know for sure that a recording that will end up at 44.1 (a CD for example), I will tend to record at 44.1, but at least 24-bit.

If I'm pretty darn sure that the source will need an analog pass at some point, I'll go 48k. Still, at LEAST 24-bit.

My two cents.

These are going to be long(aprox. 10-15 seconds) samples of Drone instruments for sf2 format.Vienna Soundfont Studio works at 44.1Khz fixed, I believe, so I'm not sure if it's worth starting at a higher rate.I think I can compensate for my limited soundcard by having a good pre-amp(Rane) and good mic's(Octava).
