Teac 6010 won't play but will fast forward and fast rewind.

My 42 year old Teac A-6010 played fine the last time I used it but after I rewound the tape to play a song again the reels wouldn't move. I can fast forward the tapes and fast rewind, but the reels will not move at regular speed to play in either direction.
Any thoughts?
Could it be the capstan belt? Or capstan motor?
I've never done any maintenance on the unit.
Thanks for any advice.
