From Tascam 414 to PC

I am currently using a tascam 414. I've heard it does not promote good quality to mix down to a cassette player for the master. I do have an old computer 486 dx 50 mhz with I think 8 MB RAM and a soundblaster soundcard (I am hoping to get a new pc soon). Is there anything I can do with this combination, such as storing or mixing to the PC?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi YesZep,

Bad News is coming: It aint gonna work, sorry.
To do decent audio, you will probably need a
Pentium 2 or better, 64megs of ram (minimum),
and a big hard drive. Start saving those
clams for a new computer, and ask around here as to what
kind to get.

In the meantime, you might want to look into a minidisc
or a used dat for mixing down. The minidiscs are pretty
cheap now, and it may not be the ideal format but
it will kick the crap out of a standard old cassette
recorder. David
