Greetings. I could use some input on where to go from here....for years now, I've been using a Korg D1200 to record my Yamaha QY sequencers, but the Korg has now bit the dust and it only makes sense to upgrade to something current rather than repairing a 17-year-old device.
Was looking at the Tascam DP24 or DP32, but notice they don't have midi connections (wtf) so syncing an outboard unit doesn't appear to be viable any longer. This suggests I'm gonna have to go the software route (which I assume includes tone generators & sequencing in addition to audio recording thereof), so my question is: what can you recommend that would give me a comparable array of functions to the D1200 & QY100? Budget is in the $500 range or so, but isn't set in stone. I'm looking for decent flexibility without being overwhelmed with a learning curve.
