Recording from mixing desk at a venue to Mac/Pro Tools

Hello, I want to be able to record my band live at a venue straight from the mixing desk to my laptop (Mac with ProTools), what do I need for this? Or alternatively is it possible to just record from the desk to say an mp3 player or ipod? Hope someone can help!

You can record a stereo mix of some aux of fx sends but I guarantee it wont sound like what you think it should. I've done it a couple times and it always sucked. The only way to end up with something decent is to record discrete channels that you can mix later on.

There is a million ways to do it, one simple way is to use something like this....

You'd probably have better (or at least as good) results just recording the room.
