Recording Automation While Listening to the Track in Sonar?

Hi

I'm using Sonar and I'm wondering if there's a way to record automation while being able to hear the track you're automating.

I have a midi track with no automation on it. I can arm 'write automation' and hit record and it will automate any changes I made to pan/volume/cutoff, whatever, but I can't hear the track while I'm doing so so it's pointless. I don't have enough fingers to twist the knobs on my midi device while I'm playing the notes, and I want to avoid manually drawing in all the nodes if I can.

Any advice?

I just learned you can sing (or play) into Reaper and recorded it into/as a MIDI track.
Guess I need to get out more.. :>)

Thanks for the smart-ass answers everyone, but I figured it out: There's a 'sound on sound' option if you click and hold the 'record' button in the control bar.

If you think my two answers were that, then pooy on you.
If not, well thanks for the thanks'.
