paning and routing with delta 1010 card

Hi, I picked up an 80's Tascam mixer that has direct outs for 8 channels. I run these into my Delta 1010 soundcard. When setting up the drums I'm using 4 mics. I have them paned 1&3 left 2&4 right. When I record my lefts run together and rights run together. I bought this board so I can mix each instrument and mic into its own track without grouping. How do I do this?
I'm using:
Cakewalk Guitar tracks pro
Tascam M-1516 mixer
Delta 1010lt card
Win Xp

If the Tascam mixer has direct outs that is what you want to use.
On each channel that has a direct out, plug that into your Delta.
Dont use the stereo outs. Panning has no effect on the direct out if the direct out is attached directly to a specific channel such as channel 1 through 8. Now if what you mean is it is a 8 BUSS mixer than you have to make sure that each channel is assigned to a different subgroup (such as 1/2 or 3/4 etc) and panned appropriately.
