Mackie help

This is my first post in this forum. I have an old Mackie 24-8-2 board that has worked wonders for me over the years. Having trouble now correcting the basic Main L-R balance. I could post more details, but just looking to troubleshoot this problem. If you have any ideas, I'm open. Quite sure it's the Main L-R and not any of the submasters or individual instrument strips.

It could be something really simile, like the insert jack being dirty. Just take a 1/4 cable and plug and unplug it into the insert jack of the main output that is quieter.

If that helps, that's your problem.

I was thinking ribbon cable, but insert jack seems more likely. A little contact cleaner might help with that if repeated insertion of a plug doesn't do it.

Ribbon cable would be the 2nd thing to check.

Btw, if you have an insert cable, put it in and connect the send and receive together and see if the problem goes away.
