i downloaded a wav file to edit, but its not playing

What was the WAV file?
From where did you download it?
What size is it showing in its properties?
Have you tried simply playing it in Media Player or something similar?

More information needed.

the file was a 10 sec soundtrack , i was trying to make it cleaner..
downloaded it from freelancer .com
it has a size of 5.7 mb and it played alright in vlc...
 
If it played ok in VLC, then the download is fine.

The problem would now appear to sit within Ableton somewhere. I am not familiar with Ableton, so I hope some one who is might jump in.
 
Open it with something like Audacity. If you can see and hear it there save it with a new name and see if that works in Ableton.
