Aternatives to stage monitors(need help!)

My band and I are having a gig coming up this month and the place is going to provide the PA spekers (no monitors). We are not ready to buy real monitors yet, so is there an alternative you can suggest? Perhaps I could run some headphones from my mixer to me? Are there any products are there that are better than that option?

I'm thinkin' headphones are gonna be a nightmare, even if they're wireless. Musician's friend (probably GC too) has super-cheap monitors - I can't remember the name, but my band just bought 4 for $39 each. You could grab a couple and just run them into the PA line if you've got the watts to spare - they can handle quite a bit. That'd do you until you get a separate monitor amp.

Other than that, careful, creative placement of the mains can do wonders (just watch the feedback).

You can get small self-powered monitors on stands, but they're a bit spendy
