You (and some of the others) hit a number of things right on the head. The guitars are DI'ed, but if you knew the condition of the only amp I had available you would be begging me to DI them. A new amp is #1 on my "to buy" list.
I'm totally with you on the repetitive nature of the drums, especially the cymbals. In addition to getting rid of the crash crash crash in some places, there are a couple of spots where it really seems like they need hits added to emphasize things. I also hear you on the kick. I have a very limited setup and have the choice between my laptops speakers of ipod headphones to monitor and mix. The kick was nowhere on the speakers, but it come out better on the earbuds. I also think the toms need to come up.
As for the vocals, I was pretty tired when I finished the song and put it up and I totally forgot to do anying to them. They are totally dry - no EQ, no reverb, no nothing - so it's no surprise that they are lacking. I'll give your suggestions a go.
