Was getting bored/high last night so I slapped this together.
It's an ALL '70s signal path! For the recording, the board was a 1978 Teac M15, tape machine a 1978 Teac 80-8 and the reel of tape is early 1970s Scotch 203 1/2". All with the matching 1978 Teac DX-8 noise reduction. Believe me I wouldn't have purchased this gear if I couldn't find dates!
-Drums are '60s blues sparkle hoshinos and I'm using the matching wood snare here instead of my 1976 Supraphonic. The '60s wood snare has a nice vintage tone about it. The mic on the snare was a 1960s Slimair 636, probably the drum overhead was a 1970s Shure 545L, and the bass drum mic was a 1960s Claricon dynamic mic with Amphenol connector.
-1960s hollowbody green violin bass guitar -> 1960s bogen mx-6 tube pre amp -> directly into console
-1970s Gibson/hybrid guitar -> -> 1978 MXR Distortion + -> 1978 MXR Phase 100 -> directly into console
-1976 Octave cat analog synthesizer -> direct into mixer/console
-1960s Goya T-16 acoustic guitar, can't remember the mic, probably '70s
-Vocal mic ....actually don't remember.
-Effects loops at the mixer - 1976 Univox EC-80 Echo chamber; very early 1973 Accutronics gold spring reverb.
It is really strange to hear any of my the playback of my sounds printed to 1970s 1/2" tape. It really makes a difference from the newer Ampex 456 tape I have. PS - this picture is part of my set-up
