Noise on 'digital' recordings . . ?

Hi! . .

I have noticed, on occasion that some noise creeps into
my recordings (hiss/white noise) . . This appears to be
occuring after multiple copying etc . .

My only explanation is perhaps - Jitter? Phase noise?

It is at a low level and is not particularly problematic, but just
annoying . .

I suppose EQ'ing and adding 'brightness' will aggrevate the
situation . . On the other hand it could be one million and one
other things too!

Maybe I need some new equipment? (lol)

After copying what / how?
it shouldn't.
Seems you have a problem in your signal path somewhere.
