getting tracks onto a computer from Zoom mrs802cd

Hi

I bought a Zoom MRS802CD a few weeks back.

I am trying to get the audio files out of the machine to mix with on the computer.

It seems that this is only possible using the USB and extra software. The problem is that I don’t want to spend the £80 to buy this.

I kind of thought you would be able to burn the audio files onto CD and then put them onto the computer.

If I burn a “project” all the separate tracks do go onto the CD but they have the file extension of DAT. Reading up on this suggests that this could be anything really! It seems that you need the software that would come with the USB to convert these to WAV or whatever.

Does anyone know if I can convert these files without having to buy anything else? The other option is to just record each track separate but that seems like a long way around.

Any help always appreciated.
