Best way to smooth clips?

I pulled a really cool bass sample from the web, but the waveform clips in a few places and sounds terrible.

The wave is very smooth and looks almost sinusoidal in the areas where the clips occur. I tried to lower the volume a bit and draw in smooth peaks, but I never get it quite right, and significant audible glitches remain. Also tried a bunch of filtering. Helps a bit, but the clicks are stubborn.

Any thoughts?

Uhhhh... duuu.

Give the physicists a little extra time, we'll figure it out.... eventually.

I just needed a steeper slope and the right corner frequency on the low pass filter.
Clicks virtually gone. Thanks anyway!
