adding acoustical foam - please check out my studio pics

I'm pretty new to acoustical treatment. I'm about to order from foambymail.com to treat my room and I have some Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 monitors on the way. As of now, above is my humble 11' x 11' studio where I do my mixing and sometimes track vox and sometimes guitars ( usually in living room ). I just need a decent economical mixing enviroment ( under $100 ). Any pointers would be appreciated!

My question is, do I foam all walls around me, or just the wall facing me? Do I need to get a few bass traps as well? Please help

i'm not an expert in knowing what would be good for your room and what wouldn't....but I do know asking for a $100 maximum solution for your room isn't going to give you much (if anything). First off, square rooms suck and you'll definitely want to get rid of that mirror that's in there. Glass is horrible with reflections.

my advise would be to just save the $100 for something else

Check out the Studio Building forum on this BBS. There is lots of good information on how to make your room sound better. Foam is one of the biggest myths in the audio world. Foam (assuming it's the right kind of foam) will only absorb some of the highs and the high-mids. Rigid fiberglass absorption panels and bass traps are probably the better solution. Rigid fiberglass absorbs more frequencies across the spectrum (down to about 120hz) and you can make bass traps with the rigid fiberglass boards.

Anyway, just start searching and reading the Studio Building forum. You'll quickly find that covering your room in foam isn't really an ideal solution and may actually be a waste of your time/money.

Good luck!
