replacing recorded drums and intruments with samples

Hey all

Well i've been on a major "Reason" kick right now and i definately see potential in incorporating it into my music. I love the idea of useing the "okester" orkestra samples that it comes with and i like the drum machine. This summer i want to do some more recording with my band but i don't want to shell out any cash to a sound tech to record the drums for me (i can't / don't know how to do it myslef0.

My question is: can sampled drums (as in using reason to make drum tracks) sound as good as the real thing? Does anybody else create their drum tracks using a smpler/sequencer? What about adding some sounds with orkester? I think that would sound good but i don't want to put a ton of work into learning the program good if it will never sound good. Thanks guys
