I'm updating to a computer based set up with a M Audio 1010LT.

I've been trying to think of ways to use the SPDIF on the 1010LT and I was wondering if I can use the optical i/o on my old Yamaha AW16G. Is that a viable option?

I dont believe the 1010 has optical I/O, and the spdif is coax

Ah HA! You need the M-Audio Co2 S/PDIF to TOSlink converter. Cheap, effective two-way conversion.
