Poor quality wav files

Hi All,

Hope someone might be able to help me solve this problem!

I have a winfast TV2000 Expert card with an FM radio receiver installed and i've been recording radio shows direct to hard drive using the winfast software. I've been recording PCM .wav files (44.1kHz, 16-bit, stereo) and have experimented with many different recording & playback levels. The resulting wav files are very poor quality and overall I would describe the sound as "flangey".

The tv card's audio-out is connected to the soundcard via the AUX input and there are no problems with radio playback etc - its just when I record.

The soundcard is a soundMAX (integrated digital audio) by Analog Products.

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

thanks,

wally

It's most likely that soundcard. Those AD converters will be very ordinary.
Not sure why it sounds flangey, that usually indicates some sort phasing issue which you shouldn't have with a line level stereo input.

It would sound better with a better soundcard

For $100 you can get the E-Mu 0404 or M Audio Audiophile. They're both 2 analog input cards.
For 4 inputs have a look at the delta 44

Another option would be the Echo MiaMidi, which is on sale at musician's friend for 100 bucks right now. Just another option
