I am looking for a USB/firewire audio recording interface to a macbook pro/garageband (to start with) to record vocals through an XLR input (which might need phantom power if I upgrade to condenser mics later on).
They are both the same price, I am under the impression that the Solo is better but I haven't had a chance to touch either so I decided to ask here,
1) For brand new products, which is better for the application I have given?
2) Would you take the risk and get the B stock product for a possibly better quality recording?
3) Are there alternative better audio interfaces which work well with minimum garageband, and then possibly other software later on e.g. Pro Tools, Cubase? (any personal experiences?)
