Here's the deal
I am a guitar player and I'd like get started with some homerecording
I'd like to use my pc as much as possible because (cheaper , and i'm familiar with it)
allready have a mic (Electrovoice, verry similar to the sure sm58)
There are numerous devices which can do that but im kinda drowning in the specs and requieremnts
I browsed the board a bit and i'd like to know what kind of numbers need interpreting when acquiring a soundcard , and what numbers need to be ignored
You hear a lot about 24-bit 96 kHz which is pretty much standard evrywhere nowadays
what about signal to noice ratio's , distortion percentages etc...etc...
So I tried to compare some devices
from the MAudio Delta 44 Delta 44 , 66 to 1010 1010-LT
what difference is there between the 1010 and the 1010 LT ?
- Aardvark Direct Pro Q10 PCI Audio Interface
- Terratec DMX 6fire2496 SoundSystem 6-Channel PCI Car
( to get more details see here : http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/cat--PCI-Audio-Interfaces--2421)
to even a creative audigy 2 EX retail nowadays has these kind of specs (With a SNR of 106dB)
see here : http://www.soundblaster.com/products/audigy2_platinum_ex/
So why are these price-differences so big ? simply becouse they have more channels, and thats all there is to it ?
and could a cheaper soundcard (like an audig) provide the same kind of recording quality then the more expensive Aardvark cards ?
