can't find firewire 800 cable

everyone in town that I've tried have only the 6 to 4 cable or whatever it is

I think I'm getting USB crackles

where do I get the 800 cable? circuit city is gone, radio shack doesn't have it nor best buy, nor office depot

I also have a much smaller firewire port on my laptop so the firewire800 port is on my external hard drive which needs to go to the small port on my laptop

anybody know anything about the difference between my laptop firewire port and my hard drive firewire800 port? I mean I bought the 6 to 4 pin adapter(I think that was what it was called) and the 4 pin was right for my laptop but the 6 didn't work for the 800 port.

what does all this mean? I'm assuming that I need the 9pin to 4pin
 
Try the cable in the standard firewire 400 port. Also, before you go out buying stuff, are you positive your laptop supports firewire 800? Firewire 800 still isn't a very common method and most things that have firewire on them are not 800 compatible.
 
More Basic: EXACTLY what drive do you have? What connections does it have?

Why do you think you're getting USB crackles in a firewire drive (or did you first have it hooked up usb?)


....ya got to give us >exact< details if you need hardware help....
