Need help opening my Tascam 22-2...

There is a slot at the tip of the shaft for a common screwdriver (Blue arrow). Leave the snap ring in place and just unscrew the whole thing.

Small falt blade scredriver, pry it against the post just a little and it can slide right off the post. Flatten it back down and it goes back on. There's also a threaded collar you'll have to remove under the headstack cover on the right-hand side (I'd have to look at home)..I use some d-ring pliers with some longer extensions.

They still had them last time I looked. About $8.00 U.S. each I think.

Part number 5533260000

What Rick said works too. I just found unscrewing the whole thing was an easy shortcut for me. In some cases the shaft may be rusted, so it would be better to slide the ring off. Same procedure works for other small-frame X-series, like the X-3, X-300 and Realistic TR-3000.

Glad to hear you got it fixed.

Glad it all worked out Fred. I was mistaken on the little threaded collar...that's on the 22-4 at the speed control knob shaft.
