Monitor Controller

I've been searching around for a monitor controller for awhile.
I've looked at the Big Knob but it adds way to much colour, i've also checked
out the Central Station but have heard people that have had lots of problems
with it, i've done a search on it and it seems a majority have the same problem.

So i've been looking at more the high end stuff the grace is a little to expensive for me at the moment
but i was thinking of the CS Avocet, that gives me monitor control, D/A, talkback and a headphone system
(question: have many headphones does it run, or whats that deal with it?)

I'll tell you about my setup, i'm running a digi 001 (yes, still) and also looking to purchase a
Rosetta 800 to bypass the digi's converters, while i'm on the
subject i want to expand from 8 to 16 stimulus. Lets say i hook up the
rosetta for the first 8 (which will be my 8 bus mixer) how do i got about adding another
8 channels of outboard pres to running stimulously with the the first 8 (digi/rosetta)?

Cheers and many thanks in advance :)

No i havent, ill cheak that out thou.

In regards to the converters to run 16 stimulus (do i need 2 rosetta 800s?)
Beacause i have the opportunity to pick up the AD16 alot cheaper.
Than just use the 8 channels of DA off the Avocet, since i'll only need 2 channels of DA as i'm currently mixing ITB.

All comments welcome, about this setup would be much helpful.

Cheers

If you are thinking of spending money on something like the Avocet, then you should take a look at the Grace Designs monitor controller.

I own a Central Station and have had no problems with it at all, it's been great.
