I am trying to set up a home studio but I'm pretty new to it all.
I purchased a used Yamaha KX8 which I intend on using as my controller. Having hooked it up to my PC via the USB cable I currently have two issues.
Connecting it up to Ableton and any other software, there is noticeable latency between hitting the key and hearing the sound. How do I get around this? My PC is pretty powerful so I'm thinking new sound card or possibly use a MIDI cable to connect?
The other issue is my sustain pedal seems to act a little erratically. I have installed MIDI-OX to monitor what happens when I press the pedal and I geta 7F and then with varying timing a 00, I'm guessing it might be a bad connection on the controller? Sometimes it holds the 7F until I let it go and then it registers 00 again. Would it be possible to get an external device I could plug a controller into that might also deal with my latency issues above?
