Hi - I wd appreciate any thoughts on this - I did post to the mixing forum but wd like more opinions: (and I have been learning my lesson of searching archives first - i just don't know where to begin on this one):

I need hotter vocal levels (I have ribbon mics w the internal Mackie mixer preamp trim crancked up most of the way). I use some compression , normalization (I seem to get the most out of this), been looking into an exciter plug in... But I wonder if a preamp plug in is the way to go? If so I don't know if it wd add any coloring & I don't know where to begin...

Not a preamp plug, but an outboard preamp. You need more gain on that ribbon.

I didn't know they made a plugin for that. Does it come with a full +48 ? That would be sweet.
