Good mic for modern R&B/Pop Style Music? Have youtube example video. Identify mic?

I'm looking for a good mic under $300 that can help me record vocals. I want to record vocals like occasional singing, but mostly riffs or a little rap put in between.

I don't want to break the bank but want something sufficient. It wont be used live. I can add effects and edit it later if possible. I currently have a Shure PG58 Mic that I bought from Bestbuy for $20 one year. It works, but it sounds... plain.

Anyone have something in mind?
 
thanks! sorry for the delay. been out of town. people have recommended the rode nt1a to get that type of sound. so im debating between that and this!
 
At first glance I thought Sm7b, but wrong mounting system / cabling. And it's a wire mesh, not a small foam. Plus that whole pointed in the wrong direction thing. It certainly appears to be of the AT40xx type. Perhaps a 4040 or 4033. More likely the 4040. At least the one that the producer guy was using. I doubt that it's the 4033 with those PCs sitting right there and ON. So +1 AT4040.
