a few questions regarding microphones/mic equipment

i have an MXL 2001 microphone and am wanting to experiment with hooking it into a guitar amp(and perhaps a distortion/EQ pedal).
the MXL 2001 requires phantom power so i assume that means that i will have to get a preamp, but i've been reading about a impedance transformer and wonder if i need one of those as well.

Yes the MXL will need a preamp that provides phantom power and having a impedance transformer on hand can't hurt.
