Starting to record school bands, civic orchestras.
Using Masterlink with a Langevin DVC pre....which one of these mics would be better to record with....2/ins stereo?
thanks in advance for your comments/advice.

I have achieved good results on bands and orchestras with the AKG C3000b. I would imagine two small diaphram condensors would be more what you want though. I just bought 2 MXL 603s and when I get a chance I'll post something to let everyone hear. You might think about 2 mxl 603s for constrast anyway. And they are only 160 for 2.

You'll definately want to use 2 of the same mic though to achieve stereo. Placement and room quality play a bid role with recording bands and orchestras live. Don't use compressoin no matter what though. Classical music is all about contrast in volume.

I would suggest a mic that in no way colors the sound and is very dynamic. Out of what you said I would pic the KSM32, although I really think small diaphram is the way to go.
