New Cort Larry Coryell model archtop jazz box

After many years of wanting an archtop, but quailing at the price of a Gibson or Guild or something of comparable quality, I finally decided, based on a review or two and some hearsay, to try out the Cort Larry Coryell model (the LCS-1, list price about $1500, but can readily be found for half that).

Perhaps I should wait a little longer to let the brand-new guitar luster wear off, but this is one excellent guitar at an incredible price. It plays and sounds as good, if not better, than most archtops I have tried over the years, including a friend's ES-175 and my former guitar teacher's L-5. The sound is rich, warm, detailed and very even.

Before, when I worked on solo jazz stuff on thin-sounding solid body guitars, I was alway frustrated. This box makes all the difference.
