Waves new Scheps 73 plugin

Mixed a rock track near entirely with the new Scheps 73 and wrote my thoughts on it while I have the demo. Blog post also includes a lovely comparison video with the V-EQ3, another Waves plugin based on the Neve 1073.

Short of it is the EQ portion is nearly identical to the V-EQ3 but lacks the high end rolloff which may make the Scheps 73 seem slightly more harsh. The harmonic distortion from the preamp section is tasty but very dependent on how hard you hit the input of the plugin. The "drive" distortion is, in my opinion, too crunchy and not terribly useful for every day usage. The V-EQ3 has advantage of having more selectable bands, out of the two units. I don't own the V-EQ3 personally so when my demo runs out I probably will grab the Scheps 73 for the added features and better analog modeling. Oddly, even without the sale price the Scheps 73 is cheaper than the V-EQ3.

Anyone else try this plugin yet? It's only been out about a week.
