Tascam mixers...

I was thinking about when I start a studio if this might be the way to go. I was looking at the M3500 and it looks nice but I'm not sure if it will do everything that I will need. On the other hand the M5000 looks like it might be the way to go. It looks like it can do everything that I would want but I can't find any details on any of them. Is this a good or bad choice?

here's some links

My experience with Tascam mixers, especially the upper end ones, has been good. They are very transparent, and both the M3500 and M5000 would suit any studio as a front-end to a DAW, as a primary mixer for a 24 - 32 track HD set up, or even ADATS. In fact I am buying an SX-1LE in a couple of days. I love Tascam Pro Audio. It's very good, and it's basically a company that does one thing.
But if you are entertaining an M5000, why not check out the Mackie Digital consoles, the Yamaha 02R96, the Sony baby Oxford or even used AMEK's and even Trident?- UNBELIEVEABLE power -unbelieveable desks! If you are an analogue guy, if I were you and had the kind of budget to court Tascam M5000 mixers as an option for my room, I'd blow the Tascam and get the 32-channel Soundcraft Ghost, but more than likely my first choice would be the Sony for sure - although the new Mackie is a monster too, as is the 02R2000, which I am very familier with (as are you probably and many others no doubt)
You can't go wrong with these consoles - I've seen used M5000 desks for around 10 grand, which is still more than most of the desks that are commensurate with it in terms of sonic performance and feature-sets. The AMEK Mozart is a wonderful console, as is the Hendrix -and if you are courting a new M5000, I would highly suggest you court these consoles too!

Just my two cents...

I was looking to spend under 15,000 for a console. I liked the M5000 cause it was automated. I wan't to stay analoge. I was looking at the Sony. It has 48 xlr inputs and 24 inserts right???? I think that could work if I could route it to a couple alesis HD24's. The downfall I see their is that it only has 24 inserts which it would be alot nicer if it had one for all of them. So I would need 6 of these? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DMBKR106/ or

Only 12 inserts and 24 xlr channels. Then you have to spend alot for more i/o. I don't think I can afford to spend much more on a console. No aux returns? I need something that I can have a insert on all the channels.
