Older Yamaha MC802 Analog Mixer

Hi. I'm in the process of accumulating recording studio components. I don't yet have a mixer, and a friend is offering to give me an older Yamaha MC802 Analog Mixer. I haven't seen it, but I believe it's 8 channel. I really know squat about mixers at this point, but anyone have any knowledge on whether or not this particular mixer is any good or not? Will it at least suit my needs to get started in home recording, or is it too much of a dinosaur and more trouble than it's worth when today's digital mixers can be had for fairly cheap (and possibly easier to use???). TIA

You'll find that mixer is not up to modern standards, and wasn't when it was brand new. Now that it's probably got a dozen or so years of crud on the pots/faders it's a poor time investment - even if you get the board for free. That was the mixer of desperation for 1988 midi enthusiasts. Like me.
