Amp Settings for Live Sound

Hey guys,

I've been wondering what the best configurations would be for my amp when playing concerts.

People have been telling to turn my gain down and my volume up.

My guitar teacher tells me to turn my mid up and my treble down.

For now, this is how I have my amp set-up.

Crate XT120R
120 Watts

Gain: 7-8
Shape: 7

Volume: 7
Low: 7
Mid: 7.5
High: 6

Reverb: 5

Any other recommendations??
Thanks:)

What genre are you playing? Hardcore, Classic Rock, and Country all use different settings. If you could just narrow it down for us it would help. Thanks

Exactly right.... It totally depends on the sound you are going for, I personally like my gain way up and my Volume way up and my Mids way down but that is for a More Metal crunchy sound, but for say Blues rock you might like more Mids and Less gain.....

Maybe Get a really long patch cord and Crank up your amp and go back as far in front of your amp as you can so you get an idea what your amp sounds like at a distance and work on your guitar sound based on what it sounds like from there....Your amp will allways sound way different the farther away from the amp you are so it would ggive you an idea what the Crowd is hearing....

Cheers
