Processing speed: In the trigger or in the brain?

Damn, I've had a lot of questions lately.

So, I'm looking for an electric set to trigger a program via midi. Most likely DFH Superior.

I was looking at the Alesis DM5 Pro, but I've heard of problems with slow processing when playing fast. I was wondering if that mattered when only using the brain for it's midi out.

That pretty much sums up my question.

the brain will process the same speed reguardless of MIDI out or not.

i think you'll be fairly dissapointed with that alesis - it's not very playable, lacks dual triggers, and as you said doesn't trigger as well as other brains.

i got my roland td-8 off craigslist for $1200 and it's amazing. i run it through my computer and trigger DFH superior and superior drummer 2.0 and it's just plain fun to play
