bass tower for yamaha elctronic drums

The trigger on the bass drum tower of our drummers set of yamahas is going out (some hits sound off, some don't).

Is there a place to get these reasonable?
( The towers we've seen are high as hell...like $200)?

also, is there a better tower to use that will work with the yamaha brain?

if we bought one of those cheap drum triggers out of musicians freind and put it on an acoustical bass drum, would it plug into the yamaha brain and work?

without a bassdrum we are kind of out of business right now

The Yamaha towers have always been a problem - I use to see many break down when I worked in a drum shop.

I would suggest going to a different trigger (such as the Rolands) which are more durable) - they come with the inverted beater. - but you're still in the $200 range.

You can put a trigger on an accoustic kick drum and use it to trigger your Yamaha brain - most triggeres should work, (I don't know which "cheap triggers" MF is offering) but will require some treaking
