The Instances Where You DO NOT Use A Compressor

Lately I've been reaching for a dynamic EQ instead for certain things
Assuming you're talking about something like Soniformer, I couldn't agree more. It's one of those things I'd recommend it more (it's dug me out of more than a few seemingly inescapable pits), but it has such a learning curve and the application needs to be *so* subtle and controlled that it's one of those things like Ozone -- A great tool and all, but so easy to completely trash a recording...

But no doubt -- If people would reach for a (Soniformer type tool) as opposed to a maul-the-band compressor for problematic fixes, the world would be a happier place.

Granted, half the people using MBC's just use it to trash their mixes anyway...

Sorry, I feel really jaded this morning. Maybe more coffee....
