Wahts the easiest, cheapest or hopefully free software for someone whos laying down vocal tracks over an already recorded rock mix? The less technical and more user friendly the better. Right now im leaning towards pro tools LE....

_edit_ also will probably be transfering the audio from a minidisc.

Cheepest? Probably nTrack. As far as the transfer for mini dics, that's irrelevant as that would be an issue with your soundcard and not software.

When I first got started (read "didn't know jack crap") I tried both N-track and PT Free. I found N-Track to be a much simpler interface to figure out from the get go.

That said, years later, I currently use PT LE (with digi 001) and I like it better than n-track.

I'd say that if you were getting PT LE with a digi unit, then that would be the better software. But if you need free/cheap go with n-Track. It's easier to use with third party soundcards. And PT Free just isn't that great in comparison (i.e. n-Track has more features/less limitations than PT Free).
