Micing classic guitar: Shure SM57 or what?

57 is not a good choice for Classical guitars.

as you know by now....I've had great results with the Oktava MC012 small diaphram mike. Very good results , but more money, with a shure KSM 44 also. Definately go with a condenser mic.

Sm81?

I've been using SM81s for acoustic guitar for a while and they work really well with acoustic guitars in an ensemble. I prefer my AT4033 or RODE NT1000 in conjunction with the SM81 or an AT4041 for projects where we want a richer sound. I record the LDC to one track and the SDC to another and I can always find a blend that'll work
