Hmmm... my stuff is all over the place. Bought, stored some while house being built. House built, bought more while working on some recording space. Buying more all the time. Not much, and nothing outstanding though, really 100% just for my own pleasure. Let's see:

3 Rackrider/Furman power conditioners - 1 for live use
BBE - Sonic Maximizer - live PA use. Best $100 I spent for Live use.
TC Electronics - M300
ART - Tube Pre II
FMR - RNC
Behringer - Bass VAmp Pro
Focusrite - Voicemaster Pro - sold, looking for an upgrade (Toft?)
Alesis - HD24
DBX - PB48 patchbay

Just adding to my list:

Behringer - HA8000 headphone amp
Line 6 - Pod Pro
2 Furman - patchbays
Alesis - Masterlink
FMR - RNP (racked with the RNC)
ART - Pro VLA Compressor

Still haven't picked up the channel strip (got the RNP though). Toft ATC-2 or Safe Sound P1 are my front-runners.

Just out of curiosity, I'm starting a similar thread to the one in the microphone forum.

I wonder how many rack units of recording gear everyone has.
1/2, 1/3, 1U, 2U etc all counts as one. It's the number, not the size.

Also, it would be interesting if you have the time to specify them... just so we get to know eachother better :)

It ain't the size... it's the girth... ain't it?

Lemme see if I can remember it all off the top of my head...

Hey Fletcher, tell me please about that Dave Derr-DI. Is it clean or is it "Derrdi" (boy that was awful but I couldn't help myself).

It can run clean or you can switch in a pretty unique sounding compression thing which is pretty cool. I got this one back in like '98-'99 don't know if it'll ever be released as a real product.

Oh... under Dynamics I forgot the Alan Smart C-2... that thing gets a ton of use, I'm quite embarassed for forgetting it... and under Equalizers I forgot to add that we have a pair of Universal Audio passive EQ's [the real Universal Audio, not the one that exists now]... the guys at Electrical Audio in Chicago put them in a box built a power supply and an input buffer amp along with an output gain makeup amp for them... they're pretty limited in their function, but exceptionally musical in their form.

No distressors Fletcher?

Here's mine:

Studio Rack:
Great River MP-2NV
RNP and RNC in Funk Logic tray
Digi 001
Furman Power Conditioner

Live Rack:
Furman Power Conditioner
Alesis Quadraverb 2
Cheap Audio Centron mixer

This year I'll hopefully be adding a Rosetta 800 to the studio rack as well as some Seventh Circle Audio pres.

My rack:

Furman
MOTU 828mkII
Kurzweil Rumour
Great River 1NV
RNP and RNC
John Hardy Personal M1 (velcroed to a universal rack. In retrospect, I should have spent the extra $100 for the racked version.)

Hope to add a ART Pro VLA to the rack, although it may not fit with the M1 velcroed (because it takes a little more then 1U of space vertically)

Dang...

I thought this was supposed to be "Home" recording..>!

Does the furman make a difference in sound? Lowers the SNR on the gear verse having no power conditioner?

I notice no difference in sound using the Furman's. I first started using them after a couple gigs where my Roland XP-80 went crazy due to power surges/inconsistencies. I've had no more problems since then. I decided to get one for my studio rack as well, just for peace of mind.

I just noticed that someone had previously asked me to compare the RNP to the Great River MP-2NV. Sorry for not responding. The Great River is definitely above the RNP, but it should be since it costs about $1600 more. The RNP is fairly clean, but does have a "sound." Currently I use the RNP on overheads and the GR on kick and snare. The RNP also sounds very nice on acoustic guitar. The Great River is a thicker sound. The place where I could really notice the difference very prominently is as a DI. When I recorded a sequence from a sythesizer from each box, the difference is fairly dramatic. The GR has a lot more meat in the lows and mids. The RNP is thinner and airier. I've gone to the GR pretty much exclusively for vocals since my voice really benefits from the extra meat.

I definitely think you can get good recordings out of the RNP though.
