I love my Josephson C42s, but they might be too bright for you.
RAMI posts songs regularly in the MP3 clinic and gets very usable results from a pair of AKG C1000s. I wouldn't recommend them, but they are decent mics if you have the patience to work on placement.
MXL 603s are very bright but pretty fair sounding. SP B1s are a very good budget alternative.
