How is the Behringer Ultralizer?

I love having an RTA at hand if I want one, but I had to settle for the $60 software RTA. If I spent the bucks for the 2496, I would probably feel obligated to run sound thru it...... is it really that bad? It does seem like a lot of features for that price, when most other units doing the same things do cost more.....

Of course it is! Just listen to what everyone who's never owned one says! Just so we all have this straight, Behringer sucks (David Bowie's producer doesn't know what he's talking about, he just uses their compressors because he's hard up for cash). Studio projects makes "ok" mics for the "project" studio (The fact some major producers and engineers use them and actually cut real records with them is a moot point). The RNC is the best compressor in the world and if you don't like it you're a flamer who doesn't even know how to use a compressor. Ok, we're all squared away now.

damn, Edan that was so subtle...it was funny.

I've heard some great mixes on Behringer 2031A monitors, but the same person did great mixes on JBL's too....

Its pretty obvious the reliability and quality is a concern from all the posts.

With the masses of HR gearheads who've bought the RNC on this forum, you don't read about faulty knobs, faulty jacks, being afraid to put it in the audio path....and thats for real.

Look at Wharfedale's, actives....China built/AIG.
They went thru a huge buying mania, then many posts started sayng issues and dislikes too.........which is a great thing in this forum. No harm in rating thee gear and problems. I think Fender's putting out crap too from what I've recently seen at the store. Cheap, poor QC mass produced crap.
Its like they leave it up to us to TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.

and I admit when bored, its fun to joke on the "UltraPro" marketing scheme on budget gear. Its pure cheesy... :D

David Bowie...let's dance...ziggy... I heard McCartney sang in a cardboard box on a vocal track once.

So I'll get fewer dirty looks if I stick with the Masterlink budget?? Good thing I asked cuz there are people around my place trying to convince me that the 2496 is a good buy.....

behringer

whats wrong with behringer ??!!
ive got a kitful - mixer, effects, eq, compresser, never crashed and soild sound on a budget !!!

To whomever negative rep'd me, the attached photos are an example of what I'm getting at. While the specs aren't exactly identical (Alesis is better), sure looks to me like the design concept was "borrowed" if you will from Alesis. I'd like to see the schematics from both amps....

I will say something kinda positive about Beh... though (unfortunately I only have one good story) - I owned a Ultrafex Pro EX3200, an it performed pretty well for what I used it for (a little PA enhancement). But to be honest, that's the only piece of their gear I owned from them which I actually thought was decent. I know a sound guy that uses a Feedback Destroyer with decent results too - so I'm semi-sure that all of the Beh... stuff isn't utter crap.

I also purchased a 3-pack of XM8500 mics (when I was more budget limited). One word - crap. I wasn't expecting the sound of a SM58 (although the freq. specs are similar), but I wasn't expecting harsh high-frequencies, or terrible feedback issues. My bad. My other experience was with a Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO. One channel went out, then came back, then went out forever (after only 6 months of use). The thing was noisy too - compared to the much better quality (build and sound) Yamaha that I bought to replace the thing.

I guess when it's all said and done, the gear is what it is. So, even though I haven't bought a crap-load of the stuff, I am/was a customer and am not just bashing for the hell of it.

Peace out

The "negative rep" thing on this board is - in my ever soooo humble opinion - a joke. Punk kid attitudes make people do that just for the fun of it. People who know that you are trying to be helpful will not pay any attention to that rep crap......and if a guy is a total fraud he wont last long on any board anyway. I dont care if the whole forum gives me negative rep. The way it is set up, anonymous, anybody can dis anybody anytime for any reason and none of it is screened or evaluated, etc.....it's a total joke. (Sorry to the mods, but it's true) So go ahead all you punks hiding behind your ISP's, flame my rep as much as you want. The guys who really know what they are talking about and like helping people wont be right there with you.

Now.....about your point.....sure looks like a plagiaristic copy to me! And as much as I have a sour taste from dealing with Alesis, I would buy their gear everytime if Alesis and Behringer were the only two brands available. (But my other post about having fun with my Behringer Edison still stands!)

Yeah, I should take the rep thing with a grain of salt (I guess my gesting might have warranted it - at least without an explanation or photos of what I was getting at in my previous posts). Everytime I've been hit, it's been a cowardly neg. hit, and not always justified. I don't think I'm an ass.

Anyway, yeah, I'd take Alesis over Beh... as well (but thankfully, we have a plethora of other options available...amen to that).

Ultramizer I think is what I have from Behringer. Been awhile since I've used it so I forget. But the think that makes your sound "bigger"?, the pyschoacoustic machine thingey? Yeah I have one. Great if you are recording with low recording quality, so don't let people get you down because we all have to start somewhere. But honestly the only thing that unit will do is make low quality recordings sound much better than they are. Again, we all start somewhere, and if that is where you are, get one and use it and enjoy it until you can afford better equipment and/or learn more about making good input tracks and how to work them from that point on. I think I'm going to hook mine up to my stereo, so I'm glad you started this thread. BTW, I hear they are pretty decent for that, all honesty, so when you grow out of it you don't have a loss. It just goes from one use to another.

Yo' warble, the posting of neg/pos reps "anonymously" will be ending in the near future! Posting rep comments to another will be similar to posting in a thread; your name will appear.ALSO as an added plus, one will be be able to review past rep rating comments along with the author's BBS name.
Those few punk-@ss, wanksta's who issue idiotic, playa'-hatin', neg reps anonymously day will end soon!

TO THE HATERS: warble is part of the original crew that helped make this site the success it is today!

BTW warble, I gave you some "rep luv" to make you feel a lil' better! :)

Peace
