Hey sonusman, I read your digital vs anolog articel and it was very insightfull.
I'm trying to switch from 4 track anolog to digital. I am a young music technology student and I'd like to start recording demos for the bands that play around my campus. For this the Roland 1680 sounded like a dream come true, but I'm skeptical of anything that sounds to good. You say in your article that you can't get a good digital recording for a couple thousand dollars.
I've saved for a long time to invest in my equipment and if I'm going to go digital I want to do it RIGHT!
I want the recording to sound 100 times better than my old four track stuff! I know it won't be "pro" quality but it better sound darn good. Is this to much to ask from the 1680? Should I wait and save for the Alesis ADAT setup for $7500 that you recomend in your article?
Thanks for your time.
