I just got around to trying my Marshall V67 with my MD8. I'm running the mic with an XLR cable into an Art Tube MP for phantom power and then into the MD8 with a 1/4" cable. I tried an XLR but it distorted easily. I'm getting a good vocal through it but there's all this static like hissing thru...

I'm going to be recording an outdoor concert in a field next month for a fundraiser. The power source witll be gasoline powered generators. Can these potentially damage my MD8? Do I need a UPS or line conditioner?
