I can't figure out how to get a monitoring signal through my headphones. Here's my signal chain... MIC---MIC PREAMP---SOUNDBLASTER---AUDACITY No matter what I plug my phones into, I can't hear what's coming through the mic. Sorry for being such a retard, but I have no idea how to make this work.

Would one of these be a better choice? The ART is a bit more expensive at $300 (vs around $160 or so for the dmp-3). I've read bad stuff here about ART, but this looks like a lot for the money.
